VerSeDa (Vertebrate Secretome Database) has been developed to accelerate the prediction process for whole secretomes (the full set of secreted proteins by a given organism). Researchers are offered a reliable repository where secretome information can be obtained. This freely available database, stores information about proteins that are predicted to be secreted from cells through classical and non-classical mechanisms, for a wide range of vertebrate species and model organisms represented at the NCBI, UCSC and ENSEMBL sites. VerSeDa accepts different input options, allowing users to retain most sensible raw sequence data. And, last but not least, to our knowledge, VerSeDa, is the first database designed to store secretome data with associated protein feature predictions from sequenced vertebrate genomes, helping this way with time-consuming bioinformatic assessments, which require multifactorial analyses in order to obtain reliable in-silico forecasts.
